Columbus Friends of Libraries used book sale scheduled for August

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Muscogee County Friends of Libraries has scheduled a usedbook sale for August 8 and 9, at Columbus Public Library.  

Organizers say they expect about 1,000 readers to shop thetwo-day sale.

Bunky McClung Clark, president of Friends of Libraries,says  somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000books will be on sale – most for $2 or less.

"We'll have everything on sale," said Clark. "From romanceand mystery, books for children and young adults, plus history and biography."

The doors open at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, in theSynovus-CB&T Meeting Room. The sale runs until 5 p.m. that day and from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

"New books will be put out every day," Clark said. "So comeback."

This is the 17th book sale conducted by the Friends since1998. Money raised helps to support a wide range of library programs and topurchase materials.

A follow-up "brown bag" sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5p.m. on Saturday, October 18. 

The Friends also run the Library Store in the ColumbusPublic Library, open seven days a week, and book-sale carts in the three branchlibraries.
