The Muscogee County Friends of Libraries has scheduled a used book sale for August 8 and 9, at Columbus Public Library.
Organizers say they expect about 1,000 readers to shop the two-day sale.
Bunky McClung Clark, president of Friends of Libraries, says somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 books will be on sale – most for $2 or less.
"We'll have everything on sale," said Clark. "From romance and mystery, books for children and young adults, plus history and biography."
The doors open at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, in the Synovus-CB&T Meeting Room. The sale runs until 5 p.m. that day and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
"New books will be put out every day," Clark said. "So come back."
This is the 17th book sale conducted by the Friends since 1998. Money raised helps to support a wide range of library programs and to purchase materials.
A follow-up "brown bag" sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 18.
The Friends also run the Library Store in the Columbus Public Library, open seven days a week, and book-sale carts in the three branch libraries.
