PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - The Phenix City School Board held its first called meeting since hiring its new superintendent.
News Leader 9's Tyrone McCoy was inside that meeting on Thursday and says one of the biggest items on the agenda is the addition new school buses this year.
"The board had originally proposed to purchase 17 buses from our bond money, and this is the last of those seven things and it'll take a little time for those to get in and hopefully we'll have those to use this coming school year," said Phenix City Superintendent Randy Wilkes.
Wilkes tells us two of the new buses will have harnesses to better suit the younger, more active students.
Additionally, there was a nearly $80,000 proposal to continue additions to the Sherwood School. Wilkes says the school will get four new classrooms, a multipurpose room, along with a new road and a retention pond.
