TUSCALOOSA, AL (WSFA) -

University of Alabama defensive lineman Jarran Reed was arrested Sunday morning on a DUI charge, according to Tuscaloosa County Jail records.

A Tuscaloosa Police Department spokesperson says an officer saw Reed, 21, driving a 2011 white Dodge Charger and backing out of a parking space at the same time as another vehicle. The incident happened in a parking lot in the 2400 block of University Blvd. in downtown Tuscaloosa.

The two cars collided but the Dodge Charger continued to the parking lot exit until an officer told the driver to stop the car.

Sgt. Brent Blankley with TPD says the officer made contact with Reed and immediately smelled alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. Following a field sobriety test, Reed was taken into custody under suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to the jail, Reed's bond was set at $1,000.

Reed is a junior college transfer from East Mississippi Community College.

Reed is the second Alabama player to be arrested in the last eight days. Running back Kenyan Drake was arrested June 5 and charged with obstructing government operations.
