Alabama voters headed to the polls Tuesday for this year's runoff election. The polls opened at 7 a.m. and closed at 7 p.m. Central Time.

The results for the statewide runoff races are as follows: 

Secretary of State (Republican)
53%  John Merrill - 108,664 votes
47%  Reese McKinney - 95,808 votes

Public Service Commission, Place 2 (Republican)
59%  Chip Beeker - 119,041 votes
41%  Terry Dunn - 81,563 votes

State Auditor (Republican)
65%  Jim Zeigler - 131,543 votes
35%  Dale Peterson - 71,085 votes

6th Congressional District (Republican)  
64%  Gary Palmer - 47,491 votes
36%  Paul DeMarco - 27,295 votes

Alabama also voted to pass the Alabama Cotton Industry Amendment with 67 percent of the vote (158,303 votes).
