FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

A special flag ceremony was held at Fort Benning on Wednesday, marking the start of a well-known course.

The ceremony honored the cooperation's command and General Staff Officer Course.

It's a class only taught in Spanish to students from 13 different countries over the course of weeks.

A representative from each of those countries posted their national flag.

"Symbolizes the superior corporation within the nations that are here represented, and also there is a desire to share the knowledge not only with the U.S. students that's in the course, but with the neighboring countries also included in the course," said Lt. Col. Guillermo Ventura, director for the School of Professional Military Education.

The flag ceremony has become a tradition in WHINSEC's longest and most prestigious course.
