Workers out of a job as north Toledo bakery distribution plant closes

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A bakery distribution plant in north Toledo is closing its doors, putting many out of a job.

Wednesday morning, employees at Bimbo Bakeries were told they'll be losing their jobs come September 5. The closure will affect about 34 employees.

The company issued this statement:

"Human relations representatives met with associates to discuss the closure, as well as share resources available to assist associates in this time of transition. This closure will not have an impact on our customers and consumers, or the availability of BBU products."

Employees say they plan to meet with union representatives Thursday.
