Columbus native running for Public Service Commissioner in north Georgia
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -
A Columbus native running for Public Service Commissioner in north Georgia comes back to his home town tonight, July 17, for a special meet and greet.
Friends and family of Daniel Blackman came out to the Liberty Theatre Cultural Center on to show their support for his campaign.
The democratic candidate grew up on Fort Benning and was educated through the Muscogee County School District.
Blackman tells us he believes his time in Columbus has been helpful to his campaign.
"Demographic in Columbus represent a lot in state, you have military, you have huge diverse demographic. I think this is going to be the blueprint how other cities across Georgia come out in November," says Blackman.
Blackmon will face republican incumbent Lauren "bubba" McDonald for the Public Service Commission District 4 seat in the main election this November.
