(WTVM) - It's almost that time of year again.
Families in Alabama and Georgia are gearing up to go back to school and getting ready for the annual tax-free weekend, which gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of state sales tax.
Alabama's tax-free weekend begins Friday, Aug. 1 at 12:01 a.m. and ends Sunday, Aug. 3 at midnight. Georgia's also begins at 12:01 a.m. Aug. 1 but concludes Saturday, Aug. 2 at midnight.
Georgia will have an additional tax-free weekend starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 and ending at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 5.
