No bond for woman accused in husband’s murder

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A judge denied bond for a woman accused of conspiring to murder her husband more than 10 years ago.

Rebecca Smith Haynie was arrested last month, accused of asking another man to shoot Kirby Smith as he worked in his garage.

Smith's son spoke to the judge at Monday's hearing, asking him to keep Haynie in jail for fear that she will retaliate against witnesses.

The judge said he is waiting for a grand jury to convene before he gives her a bond. He says he will reconsider the request after September.
