GENEVA CO., AL (WSFA) -

David Hall announced on Wednesday that he will not ask for a recount and has conceded the race to Tony Helms.

Hall stated that after speaking with his family, he decided not to ask for a recount and said that he is proud of the way he ran the race.

On Tuesday, David Hall and Tony Helms watched closely as Geneva County voting officials canvassed votes from last Tuesday.

It took less than an hour for the votes to be certified and Helms to be officially declared the winner.

"I just want to thank everybody that came out and voted in this election," Helms said.

Only nine votes separated Helms and Hall.

The voter turnout in Geneva County during this runoff elections was 31%.
