AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The Auburn Police Division arrested two juveniles on Sunday, July 27 on felony warrants regarding burglaries over the weekend on West Longleaf Drive.
The juveniles are a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old, and both are from Auburn.
They were both charged with burglary third degree and theft of property first degree, and the 17-year-old has an additional charge of possession of a sawed-off shotgun.
The arrests are the result of an investigation of two separate burglaries that occurred at the club house of an apartment complex located in the 200 block of W. Longleaf Drive. Officers were informed that some unknown individual(s) entered the building on Friday night, July 25 and Sunday morning, July 27 and stole electronic devices valued at $4,400.
The juveniles were developed as suspects after they were captured on video surveillance cameras and later contacted by police in the vicinity. The 17-year-old juvenile was in possession of stolen property valued at $2,000 when he was contacted by officers.
A subsequent search of both residences resulted in the recovery of additional stolen property valued at $400 and the discovery of the saw-off shotgun, for a total recovery value of $2,400.
Both juveniles were arrested and taken into custody by police. The 17-year-old was taken to the Lee County Youth Development Center, where he is awaiting a detention hearing. The 16-year-old was released to his legal guardian.
The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are possible.
