BULLOCK CO., AL (WSFA) -

The cost of getting a college education is going up, and a Bullock County Judge is trying to do his part to help.

Probate Judge James E. Tatum founded the JET scholarship program last year as way to inspire graduating seniors to apply for higher education.

Two students, Yolanda Ousley and Brent Douglas, were chosen from a drawing to receive a $1,000 scholarship.

"When people help you, you can't let that go in vain," Douglas said. "I want to say thank you now, but I really want to say thank you through my actions."

Yolanda will be attending Alabama A&M to study biology next year, while Brent will head to Stillman College to study music and math.
