Russell Co. man to be retried for murder

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

A Russell County man who was found guilty of murder in 2000 will have a new trial due to juror misconduct.

James Allen Harrison Jr.'s retrial starts on July 30, 2014. Harrison filed a motion for a new trial in 2001 with the Alabama Supreme Court and his request was granted by Judge George Green.

Judge Al Johnson is now presiding over the case.

Harrison is accused of murdering a Phenix City man in 1998. He was sentenced to death in 2001.
