TROY, AL (WSFA) -

The Troy Police Department is wanting to remind local business owners to be careful when cashing large bills.

According to Chief Jimmy Ennis, police have seen several counterfeit $100 bills reported over the past few days.

Ennis states that cashiers at businesses should be sure to check all currency for counterfeit indicators on the bills.

Business owners may also want to invest in small machines or pens that can be used to identify counterfeit bills.

Any business that has received a counterfeit bill should report it to the Troy Police Department.
