KSLA News 12 Editorial: July 31- Tax Free

Posted: Updated:
Back-to-school shopping may not have gotten easier, but it certainly can be cheaper. Louisiana, Texas and Arkansas all continue to offer tax-free shopping holidays for specific school-related items.

In Louisiana, the tax free weekend starts this Friday.  The exemption applies only to the four percent state sales tax.  Local taxes will still apply depending on which parish you live in.

In Arkansas, shop tax free this weekend beginning Saturday through Sunday.

And in Texas, it’s August 8 through August 10.

Each state has different rules for what qualifies.  They say the only two things certain in life are death and taxes.  At least for a couple of days you can eliminate the taxes.  I’m James Smith.
