HUNTSVILLE, AL (AP) -

On the heels of Whole Foods Market's expansion in Alabama comes word that the grocer is preparing to launch its first national market campaign.

The Austin TX natural and organic food retailer announced earlier this year it would expand into the Huntsville market in 2016. The company announced similar expansion plans in Montgomery on Wednesday.

Residents in both cities expressed joy at the company's expansion, despite direct competition already present in the form of Fresh Market and Earth Fare, as well as diversification by traditional retailers such as Kroger and Walmart into organic and natural product offerings.

The Associated Press reports that Whole Foods' plans to turn around slow sales growth go beyond simply opening new stores. The company is preparing its first national marketing campaign and pushing its cheaper store-brand options to shake off a perception of prohibitive costs at its locations.

Whole Foods is also in the planning stages of offering a home delivery service. The AP says the chain is planning to roll out the service in 12-15 markets. It is unclear if any Alabama markets are included in those plans.
