Northern to represent Georgia at the Little League SE Regional

COLUMBUS (WTVM) – The Northern All-Stars are back in the game.

Little League officials in Williamsport declared Peachtree City National ineligible on Thursday night, stripping them of the Georgia state championship and awarding the title to Northern. That means the District 8 champions will represent Georgia in the Southeast Regional in Warner Robins starting on Saturday.

Peachtree City Northern is the only team to beat Northern this year, 21-17 during pool play at the state tournament, and 12-1 in the state championship game.

Northern will open play on Saturday at 7 pm ET versus Southwest Forsyth LL, the North Carolina state champ.  They'll play Bridgeport, W.V. on Monday at 4 pm, and South Brandon, Fla. at 4 pm on Tuesday. The tournament semifinals are next Wednesday, with the championship game set for Friday, August 8 at 7 pm. The winner of that game will earn a spot in the Little League World Series.

Northern has gone to the series twice, winning the World Championship in 2006, and making the trip again in 2010.
