LONDON, August 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
New research also reveals the impact of domestic appliances on modern British life as the washing machine and fridge freezer are amongst our most life-changing products
Just 16 per cent of Brits could say they felt their home was 'up to date', with a whopping third admitting that they only buy new appliances if their old ones are broken, according to new research.
Many Brits also upgrade their partner more often than they change their appliances - with nearly a third owning a fridge, toaster or washing machine that had outlasted several relationships.
The poll of 2,000 adults, which was commissioned by Hotpoint to examine the nation's Home IQ, found that the washing machine, fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher and kettle were amongst the top 10 products Brits felt had changed their lives, alongside broadband, email and SKY television.
The Hotpoint Home IQ campaign aims to change Britain's perception of technology in our homes to make them smarter and more efficient when it comes to the latest appliance innovations.
The research showed the impact of domestic appliances on modern British life and found the average home has three major appliances that are currently broken or only partly functioning.
Piero Pracchi, Marketing Director for Hotpoint added: ''Keeping our homes performing efficiently not only saves us money in the long run but it can also enhance our lives by utilising the latest advances in technology."
"With this study, Hotpoint wanted to challenge consumers to consider how smart their homes really are and to help them change for the better by making their homes smarter and more efficient."
"With washing technology including Steam for fresher, cleaner clothes, Anti-Stain Quick to remove stubborn stains in just an hour and refrigeration with Active Oxygen, which offers first day food freshness for up to 9 days, Hotpoint appliances will ensure that you have the highest Home IQ on the street."
The Hotpoint Ultima range features a variety of key innovations that aim to improve our Home IQ, such as fridges with Active Oxygen technology to keep food from decaying and going to waste.
The new Hotpoint Ultima S-Line range of washing machines also feature innovative Steam Cycles and Anti Stain technology, meaning you no longer have to use an entire wash to refresh a single piece of clothing or worry about clothes being ruined by even the toughest stains.
The Hotpoint Ultima dishwasher also features innovative Zone Wash technology that allows you to direct 30% more washing power to any of the internal baskets, giving you maximum cleaning power to blast any stubborn stains and dried out casserole dishes.
On top of this added functionality the entire Ultima range is built to be as energy efficient as possible, whether it's the S-Line washing machine's A+++ energy rating or the Ultima dishwasher's Spray Smart technology, each machine is built from the ground up to save you money.
Hotpoint has teamed up with star of F1 and The Gadget Show, Suzi Perry, to help change people's homes for the better by making them smarter and more efficient.
Speaking about the campaign, Suzi said: "If we embraced innovation in our appliances as we do our smartphones and televisions, we would not only expand what we can do within the home but save precious time and money in the process."
