Sheriff: Officers arrested for attempting to smuggle marijuana into jail

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

An internal investigation by the Russell County Sheriff's Office found that correctional officers were attempting to smuggle marijuana into the jail, announced Sheriff Heath Taylor at a press conference Friday.

Justin Hill, 27, Oscar Hicks, 40, and Branden Williams, 27, are charged with and confessed to felony bribery. Two have also been charged with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Hill and Williams face $20,000 bonds, and Hicks faces a $10,000 bond.
