ELBA, AL (WSFA) -

The Coffee County Coroner's office says an Elba teen died over the weekend following a near-drowning situation Thursday.

An Elba police officer responded to a home on Pine Cove Drive Thursday evening in response to a possible drowning. When the officer arrived, they found 17-year-old Jordan Kelley lying on the ground beside the pool. Another person was performing CPR on him.

At that point, the police officer took over performing CPR and continued to do so until Coffee County EMS arrived.

Kelley was transported to Medical Center Enterprise and was later transferred to a Birmingham hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries over the weekend.
