Back-to-School Brigade helps hundreds of military families

Soldiers of the 3rd Armored Brigade did their part to make sure families had all they needed to send kids back to school.

Dozens of military families filled the Holiday Inn on Manchester Expwy on Saturday, Aug. 2, for Operation Homefront's Back to School event.

Even Spiderman showed up to help kids find what they needed for class.

Volunteers said it was a great way to help moms and dads who need a little extra support before the school bell rings for the fall semester.

Kim Clagg, an Operation Homefront volunteer, says, "[We're] trying to help alleviate some of the stress for our military families by providing these backpacks, and also to help decrease the cost for school supplies."

Clagg says the goal for the Back to School Brigade was to provide backpacks full of supplies to 250 families, but she believes they surpassed that goal, helping around 300 military families.
