COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The old Fourth Street Baptist Church Daycare in Columbus is now the Robena Gaines Flakes Daycare.

A dedication ceremony was held Saturday, Aug. 2, in honor of the wife of the late Pastor Johnny Flakes, Jr.

The center was one of the first daycares to be recognized by the City of Columbus. Several former city officials were present for the dedication, including former Columbus Mayor Bob Poydasheff and Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Turner Pugh.

Mrs. Flakes says she's grateful for the honor.

"Give them all you have," she says. "Give them the love and the care to have, and I pray that we parents of all the children, and not only our children, all children, give them that special love that they deserve."

Mrs. Flakes was given a plaque signed by family and friends to mark the occasion. Singers were also present to provide the crowd with entertainment.
