End of summer barbecue to benefit Chattahoochee River

A popular restaurant in Vinings in teaming up with an Atlanta brewery for an event that aims to raise funds for a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River.

Canoe, situated along the Chattahoochee River, is joining SweetWater Brewing Company for the fifth annual End of the Summer BBQ on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the restaurant on Paces Ferry Road. Attendees will celebrate SweetWater's eco-friendly Save the Hooch Campaign with food, drinks and music on the banks of the Chattahoochee.

Chef Matthew Basford of Canoe promises to prepare a savory barbecue for guests, while SweetWater pours its lip-smackin' local beers. The party benefits Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and preserving the Chattahoochee River, its lakes and tributaries for the people, fish and wildlife that depend upon them.

Advance tickets are $30 per person and include a spread of summertime food prepared by Canoe's culinary team, SweetWater beer, live music, a one-year membership and donation to Chattahoochee Riverkeeper.
