The Dothan City Commission approved funding a project that could cost close to $15 million. It would expand, Andrew belle Community Center and Westgate Park, plus build a new park called James Oates park.

The plans for Westgate include a heated pool for the aquatics program.

Andrew Belle community center which had its pool removed in the early 2000's would get a new pool.

Jim Oates park would have baseball and softball fields, which could lure in  big tournaments to Dothan.

The city will pay for the improvement with money that's already in the bank.

During Tuesday's meeting, the City Commission also approved to accept $2 million from the Dothan area convention and visitors center for the James Oates park and $500,000 from the Wiregrass Foundation for the Andrew Belle pool.
