Rantankerous [ran-tank'uhr-us] (adjective) - A combination of rant [to speak in a wild or extravagant manner] and cantankerous [contentious, disagreeable]. The word is the only suitable description for the arguments between Brian "What We Learned" Tynes and George "Hot Reads" Jones.

(RNN) – Football season can’t come soon enough. Neither can the death of the NCAA.

One of those things is inevitable, and the other could be imminent, following some freedoms the NCAA is allowing major conferences to have over setting their own rules. Whether it is – or eventually will be – a death knell for the NCAA is up for debate, which is convenient since that’s the purpose of this recording.

George and Brian are split on the importance of the NCAA rule changes and on whether pitchers should start wearing protection after Miami’s Dan Jennings was carted off the field following a line drive that hit him in the head Thursday night.

Additionally, ESPN made the curious decision to suspend Dan LeBatard for taking out a billboard directed at LeBron James, even though selling his Baseball Hall of Fame vote to Deadspin drew no such action.

This week’s weird news centers on Weird Al, who a grassroots campaign is hoping will Perform This Way during halftime of the Super Bowl. That’s not a bad idea, and you don’t have to be White & Nerdy to support it.

The Saga Begins when people Dare to Be Stupid and get a little Trigger Happy around the Change.org “Start a petition” button. The NFL isn’t likely to go for it, unless Everything You Know Is Wrong, and the movement will likely remain Trapped in the Drive-Thru.

Florida Man also makes a triumphant appearance, as he is wont to do.
