Columbus man claims $1 million lottery winnings

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A winning lottery ticket was sold at a Publix Super Market located on Woodruff Farms Road in Columbus.

Wolfgang Gant of Columbus claimed his $1 million prize at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Columbus. The Georgia Lottery's 20th Anniversary Extravaganza instant game includes $1 million and $5 million top prizes.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Pre-K Program.

More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program.
