MARION COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - Students at Marion County Middle High School got a special visit from the state's leader Tuesday afternoon.
Governor Nathan Deal made a trip to the school to speak to the middle and high school students as a way to kick off the new school year.
He also took a tour around the building.
Deal says what he enjoyed the most about his visit was seeing the enthusiasm of the student body and the school's beautiful facility.
"It's certainly something that any community ought to be very proud of," Deal said. "I know that this is early in the school year but it's nice to see that they're all anxious to get back to school and to learn, and that's what will make our state great is to have young people excited about learning."
Senator Ed Harbison and Representative Mike Cheokas also visited the school Tuesday afternoon.
