Parenting children with autism

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus parents of children with autism got some advice tonight, August 12, at a parenting workshop.

Tonight's event was sponsored by Parent to Parent of Georgia and the Autism Hope Center.

They discussed important issues for parents of children with autism such as the individuals with disabilities education act.

Diane Pope, the president of the Autism Hope Center, says this information is extremely important to parents.

"You need to know these things before something comes and slams you in the face. You suddenly discover that you are not in position to do what you need to for your child.  This is vital," says Pope.
