A viral video on Facebook confirmed what many drivers have long suspected: Some gas pumps really do rip you off!

Everyone at some point has suspected they were cheated at the gas pump and ended up paying for more gas than they really pumped into their car. Now one man says he's got proof of it happening.

Construction worker Nick Poff posted a video to Facebook of what he claims is a gas pump ripping him off.

"This is showing you how they are burning you on our fuel," Poff said in the video. "Haven't squeezed the trigger once and it's already up to eight cents."

Poff claims this was not a case of air stuck in the hose, which happens often. He claims the pump started charging him even before he pulled the trigger.

"I had my cup of coffee, took the pump, put it on the back of my truck, walked to the front of my truck, put my coffee in my truck, turned around, see the pump on ‘six cents' and said, ‘What?'" he explained.

Poff's video was shared more than 30,000 times. State officials noticed, too, and the Department of Weights and Measures stopped by the gas station to confirm. They say they found two pumps there that started charging before actually pumping any gas.

Poff says he's glad his video made an impact and wants others to remember if they see something wrong, they should share it.

"I'm a single father," he said. "I've got a daughter, and that 10 cents could go in her piggy bank!"

If you think a gas station is cheating you, contact the station management and the local Department of Weights and Measures. If you have video proof, share it on Facebook or Youtube to let others know so they don't waste their money.
