Heavy traffic expected with Wilson County Fair

Tennessee's largest county fair begins Friday, and that means heavy traffic for the next week and a half.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation and Wilson County Fair organizers are preparing for very high volumes of traffic. They are looking at Interstate 40, state routes and local roads near the fairgrounds in Lebanon.

On the busiest days, TDOT will close a lane on I-40 near exit 239 to help fairgoers who are heading west on the interstate.

TDOT is also putting up mobile message boards to help people get in and out as early as possible.

The Wilson County Fair runs through Aug. 23. Last year's fair drew nearly 590,000 people to Lebanon.
