ATLANTA (CBS46) -

The mother of a 3-year-old child who shot himself in the face bonded out of jail over the weekend.

Angel Douglas was arrested Friday and charged with second-degree cruelty to children and reckless conduct, according to Sgt. Greg Lyon with the Atlanta police.

Douglas was taken to Fulton County Jail. On Saturday she was granted a bond of $10,000 and bonded out of jail.

The child is being treated at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

Police said it appears the boy was alone in a bedroom playing with the gun when he pulled the trigger.

Officers patrolling the west side of Atlanta responded to the Allen Hills Apartments on Middleton Road near Interstate 285 at about 10 p.m. on Thursday. They said the boy was in stable condition when paramedics rushed him to the hospital.

"Oh my Jesus," said neighbor Ivy McMullen. "I just pray that the baby's OK because he's a good little boy. I just pray that God will bring him through this and bring the family through it."
