Jury selected for Kareem Lane retrial

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Twelve jurors and three alternates have been chosen for the retrial of Kareem Lane.

Lane is accused of stabbing former Muscogee County Superintendent Jim Burns to death more than two decades ago.

The jury consists of eight women and four men. Seven of the jurors are African American, and the remaining five are Caucasian.

All three alternate jurors are African American, two are woman, and the other a male.

Authorities report there was DNA evidence found on the murder weapon that links lane to the crime.

A mistrial was declared in 2012 due to a hung jury.
