Unlike seismic reflection technology, the PetroLocate PL14 seismoelectric system does not require a large area of cleared land for oil exploration surveys. The recently released PL14 is a 2014 version of a technology that has been used worldwide for over thirteen years.

Lakewood, WA (PRWEB) August 21, 2014

Until now, the only effective method of oil & gas exploration has been through the use of seismic reflection technology, which often requires hundreds of tons of equipment and hundreds, if not thousands, of people deployed over vast areas for many months. A seismic reflection survey of a potential oil play at 6,000 feet would require an area that is over 2 miles long to accomplish the exploration. Due to these issues, this option is cost prohibitive for most small to medium lease holders/land owners and cannot be deployed on many privately held oil leases limiting exploration to mainly drilling test wells.

The PetroLocate PL14 seismoelectric technology offers a method for the detection of hydrocarbons (oil/gas) that can be deployed by private land owners/lease holders and by companies large and small. The PL14 seismoelectric system can be used to detect the presence of mobile resistive liquids to as deep as 10,000 feet (depending on the geology) without requiring access to an extremely large parcel of land. The environmental imprint for a seismic reflection survey is great as it requires the survey land to be cleared prior to exploration whereas a PL14 survey can be conducted on land with native vegetation and little to no clearing required.

Additionally, the cost of deploying an exploration project with the PetroLocate PL14 seismoelectric system is pennies on the dollar compared to seismic reflection exploration methods and can be accomplished in as little as a week depending on the size of the test area. PL14 seismoelectric units are manufactured in the United States by PetroLocate and have currently been used to image geothermal zones as well as oil plays successfully. (Patent Pending Pub. No.: US 2014/0111207 A1). For more information on the PL14 seismoelectric technology, visit or contact Ervin Kraemer directly at 800-251-3350.
