Media report: Rams Bradford out for year with torn ACL

St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford tore his ACL in his left knee Saturday night against the Browns and will miss the 2014 season, according to media reports.

Bradford missed the final 10 weeks of last season after tearing the same ACL in an Oct. 20 game at Carolina. He underwent surgery to repair the knee in November.

Bradford went down in the first quarter of Saturday night's preseason game after Cleveland defensive end Amonty Bryant hit Bradford after the quarterback released a pass. Bradford went down to the ground and was attended to by the Rams training staff. He left the game on his own power and did not return.

St. Louis brass was originally optimistic about the injury, with head coach Jeff Fisher saying, "It appeared just to be a hyper-extension of the same knee. He was walking around fine (inside the locker room)."

Along with missing 9 games last season, Bradford missed 6 games in 2011.

The backup quarterbacks on the Rams' roster are Shaun Hill, Austin Davis and rookie Garrett Gilbert.
