COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Spanx founder Sara Blakely took to the stage at Columbus State University on Tuesday.
Blakely was one of the key speakers this morning at the Jim Blanchard Leadership Forum.
She spoke about how she got her undergarment company off the ground, and even touched on the fact that she was living here in Georgia when she began thinking about the Spanx venture.
The 43-year-old is one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2012.
Other big names are also on tap for the two-day forum.
Sheryl Sandberg, Chief Operating Officer for Facebook, gave the final address at the leadership forum.
In her address, she spoke about women taking on leadership roles. She also discussed equal rights for women in the workplace.
"Anywhere in the world I can say the sentence, that little girl has executive leadership skills and everyone will laugh, and there is no room in the world where I can say the sentence, that little boy has executive leadership skills, and anyone will laugh," Sandberg said. "And it is that stereotype which needs to be fixed."
The leadership forum wrapped up Tuesday afternoon.
