More Details: 1-year-old boy drowns in West Point Lake

WEST POINT, GA (WTVM) -

Troup County Sheriff's Officials have identified the victim of a drowning at West Point Lake as 1-year-old Fisher Pursley of LaGrange, Ga. 

The boy's mother found him unresponsive in shallow water, and called 911 around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31.

CPR and other life-saving measure to the one-year-old were unsuccessful. He was transported to West Georgia Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 p.m.

The Troup County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the situation that they say appears to be a tragic accident. 

Agencies responding to the scene were: Troup County Sheriff's Office; Troup County Fire Dept; Troup County AMR; Georgia DNR; and US Army Corp of Engineers.
