COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The community is remembering the legacy of Dr. Jack Hughston.
News Leader 9 was at the remembrance ceremony on Thursday behind the Hughston Clinic in Columbus, which was organized by the Hughston family.
Dr. Hughston was remembered for his legacy and footprint in the world of orthopedics and sports medicine.
"Because we still remember, day to day, every day as we see a patient, his memory and how he treated patients," said Champ Baker, chairman of the Hughston Foundation. "And that's how we try to carry his legacy."
"Dr. Hughston was a giant in orthopedics," said Fred Flandry, president of the Hughston Foundation. "His impact is probably immeasurable… not only on Columbus but really on the world."
"And the lessons he taught so many of us live on," added Terri LaSalle, member of the Hughston Society. "Dr. Hughston always wanted us to come home. Today I was so blessed to come home and be with my Hughston family."
Dr. Hughston died 10 years ago.
