COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Muscogee County school board will be spending thousands of dollars to repair a stage at Arnold Middle School.
Tonight, September 9, the board decided it would allow contractors to bid on repairing the 55 year old stage. Over the years, it has been damaged by dry rot, mold and mildew and is no longer usable for students.
The estimated cost to repair it is $45,000.
"We've got an estimated cost of it right now and we will send a bid to contractors, let them bid it out and bring it back, and if the board agrees with it we will vote on it," says Mark Cantrell of the Muscogee County school board.
The stage is located in the school's cafeteria, but when construction begins, we are told it will not impact the school's lunch program.
