FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) - The 2014 Maneuver Warfighter Conference is bringing top military officials from around the country to Fort Benning to discuss the current state of the Maneuver Center of Excellence, the Armor School, and the future of the US military force.
The conference focuses on discussing current issues relevant to the MCoE, such as the military drawdown and oversees operations. It provides a place for retired serviceman and women, as well as those currently serving, to communicate what's needed in the field.
LTG (Ret.) Michael Flynn says, "All of these conferencesthat the various COE's do, they are very helpful to stitch together theoperational force and the institutional force, so we can learn together."
Flynn says the conference brings together the industry and operational force to help understand problems and define solutions.
Defense contractors are also on hand to show off the latest technologies for war from boots and sunglasses to robots and helicopters.
The conference began Tuesday, Sept. 9, and will continue through Thursday, Sept. 11.
