WTVM 09/13/14 Editorial: The Blue Heron Adventure

(WTVM) - What an exciting time to live in the Columbus-Phenix City area!

And what a marvelous job Uptown Columbus continues to do in bringing world class experiences, like the new zip-line, to draw tourists and locals alike to the RiverWalk.

The Blue Heron Adventure boasts the only zip line connecting two states. Thrill seekers can zip across the Chattahoochee from Columbus to an aerial adventure course laid out along the river on the Phenix City side.

The average $50 price tag, depending on which adventure you choose, isn't too pricey compared to other zip-lines. It's about half the cost of similar attractions in Branson, Missouri and Whistler Mountain in British Columbia, and it's right here in our own backyard.

The Blue Heron Adventure is the latest attraction to complement the immensely popular WhiteWater Express' class III rapids on the Chattahoochee. Even if you don't like the water, and are afraid of heights, you can watch the adrenalin junkies from the RiverWalk, and then patronize any of the great places to eat in Uptown.

For anyone looking for good economic news about Columbus and Phenix City, the new zip line represents the latest, forward thinking, community centered experiences that prove, "If you build it, they will come."
