Opelika man arrested in Auburn theft

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

On Friday Sept. 12, the Auburn Police Division arrested 22-year-old Garrett P. Nixon from Opelika on felony warrants charging him with Unlawful Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Theft of Property Second Degree.

The arrest is the result of an investigation of a breaking and entering of a motor vehicle report that was filed with police on September 11, 2014.  According to the report, an unknown suspect(s) illegally entered the victim's vehicle, a 2011 Ford F-150 truck while it was parked at his residence, located in the 1800 block of Hayden Avenue. 

A pistol, cell phone, and a pair of sunglasses valued at $950 were stolen. 

An investigation by police developed Nixon as a suspect.  All of the property reported stolen was recovered and he was subsequently charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and theft of property second degree and taken into custody.

Nixon was transported to the Lee County Jail and will be eligible for a $6,000 bond.
