(WTVM) - A former Crimson Tide star is heading to the Chattahoochee Sports Hall Of Fame.
Former Alabama linebacker Eddie Lowe headlines the hall's Class of 2015. Lowe starred at Central High School, then followed in the footsteps of older brother Woodrow to play at Alabama and became defensive captain his senior year.
He went on to play nine years in the Canadian Football League, winning a Grey Cup with the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. Lowe is currently mayor of Phenix City.
The rest of the five-man class includes John Flournoy, a former football star at Columbus and the University of North Carolina; Dennis Holmberg, a Baker High grad who has been a coach and manager for three decades in the Toronto Blue Jays organization; and golfers Carter Mize and Wright Waddell, who teamed up for four state titles at Hardaway, and went on to SEC careers and six Southeastern Amateur titles combined.
Induction ceremonies will be in February.
