COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The Phenix City police department will soon have some new technology to help them catch criminals.
Tonight, September 16, the Phenix City council approved the Edward Byrne's justice assistance grant which will allow the department to purchase an a-fix fingerprint identifier system worth more than $30,000.
The grant will cover just over $20,000 of the total cost of the system.
The city will pay the remaining $9,600.
The council unanimously approved the measure tonight.
