(WTVM) - Publix and United Way are teaming up to donate school supplies to Columbus and Phenix City area non-profit organizations serving kids in need.
Supplies were donated by customers on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at the Publix located at 1639 Bradley Park Drive in Columbus.
Publix customers were invited to donate school supplies through The Tools for Back to School in-store campaign this summer.
"Thank Publix, their employees, our partner agencies that make sure the kids who need it, get it," said Scott Ferguson, CEO of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. "And for the public who gave. It all kinda comes together. When people work together, you do amazing things."
Nearly 20,000 school supply items were picked up at the store and distributed to the following United Way partners to help Columbus area children succeed in school:
· Boys & Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley
· Columbus Community Center
· Feeding the Valley
· Girls Inc.
· Hope Harbour
· Russell County Child Advocacy Center
· The Salvation Army
