(WTVM) - People across the Chattahoochee Valley laced up their shoes for a good cause Saturday, Oct. 4 at the 18th Annual Walk to Cure Diabetes.
The goal was to raise money and awareness for juvenile diabetes.
We spoke with one of the organizers about the event's significance.
"Without walks like this – which they happen all over the country – without walks like this we won't have a cure, and our kids and family members with Type 1 will live with this for the rest of their lives," Wendi Murray said. "They'll take it for the rest of their lives."
More than 200 different walks also took place across the nation. Our local group's goal is to raise more than $47,000.
