(WTVM) - A Savannah man is getting ready to march for military families.
Mark Halliday, a small business owner and U.S. Army Ranger veteran, set out on a three-week journey across the state of Georgia to raise money for the Fisher House Foundation.
The foundation provides military families housing located close to a loved one when they are in the hospital for an illness disease or injury.
The trek at Fort Benning to Hunter Army Airfield is about 300 miles.
"I really enjoy seeing people do good things for the community and I thought it was maybe my turn to give some of myself," Halliday said. "I hope I can inspire anyone to do something similar - a car wash for charity or a cake bake drive, anything - just do something good."
Halliday is raising money and tracking his progress on his Facebook page.
