PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Dozens gathered Tuesday, Oct. 7 on Seale Road as Phenix City leaders revealed the city's newest beautification project.
Sugar Town Park was dedicated as a historic landmark, remembering the days when the patch of land was a sugarcane field.
Residents and councilors gathered to cut the ribbon and reveal the new bricked sign.
Councilor Arthur Day says the park really improves the landscape in his district.
"It's wonderful that Mr. Hunter and the others came up with this name Sugar Town Park," Day said. "I think that's a very suitable name. As I look around here, I'm very proud of what these city workers have done. It really looks real nice."
The park is located near the corner of 1st Place and Seale Road in Phenix City, just across from the Dollar General.
