COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A local soldier is part of an rmy-winning team that won the Chairman's Cup at the Warrior Games, the top award at the event.
Warrior Games is an event designed for wounded, ill and injured service members.
Sergeant Kadina Baldwin from Columbus competed in sitting volleyball and two other events at the games. She says she's come a long way since hurting her back at Fort Stewart three years ago.
"When the doctor told me that I wasn't going to be able to run again, it really crushed my spirits," Baldwin said. "I never thought that I'd really be able to play any sports."
Baldwin gives much of the credit to the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
She says seeing other soldiers in her situation got her interested in sports again.
