PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - U.S. Representative Mike Rogers made a stop in Phenix City on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Rogers toured Central High School's Freshman Academy and the Career Tech Center.
Some student leaders also got the opportunity to interact with Rogers during a Q and A session following the tour.
The congressman says he often hears there's not enough skilled labor when he tours Alabama and the nation.
"I think it's important that the programs are offered," Rogers said. "This is important that we start to let kids know 7th, 8th, and 9th grade that you know college is great for you but there's other opportunities that can pay a whole lot more and you will find more fulfilling and it would be good for our economy."
Rogers, who represents Alabama Congressional District 3, also plans to visit Columbus to speak with the chamber about military issues. Rogers is running for re-election against Democrat Jesse Smith.
